Background of the district administration
After the conquest of Bengal in 1765, the East India Company divided Tripura into two parts. They are Tripura and Chakla Raushonabad. In 1781, a district of Greater Comilla and Noakhali formed the English without Sarail Pargana and it was named Tippera district or Tripura district. There were two identities of Tripura district. In general, Tripura district means Chakla Diplomacy as a whole in the entire district and Tipper as prop. However, the English used to call it Roshnabad Tripura. 1789, it was named as the Tripura district for the purpose of collection of revenue. In 1790, it was declared as Tripura district with administrative powers. In 1830, the remaining part of Greater Noakhali was separated from Tripura district except under the goat Nia (Inside of Feni district) and in Mymensingh, Sarail, Daudpur, Haripur, Bijra and Satkkhandal Parganas were included in Tripura. Nasirnagar subdivision was formed in 1860 and became a sub-division of Tripura district. After 11 years the subdivision shifted from Sadar Nasirnagar to Brahmanbaria town. The subdivision is named after Brahmanbaria and six thanas. Namely: Brahmanbaria, Sarail, Nasirnagar, Nabinagar, Kasba and Banchharampur. In 1876, Chagolnaiya thana was separated from Tripura district. From then until the 1960s, this district became known as Tripura District. In 1960, Tripura district was named as Comilla District by an administrative order. Then, after twenty four years, on February 15, 1984, the present Brahmanbaria district was formed. ABM Abdul Aziz EPCS (15/8/1947-22/8/1947) was the first sub divisional administrator of Pakistan. After independence in 1971, the first sub divisional administration was Mohammad Isramrail Hossain CSP (16/12/1954-24/01/1972). After the formation of Brahmanbaria district in 1984, Mr. Md. Nizam Uddin (15/02/1984-04 / 8/1986) was the first Deputy Commissioner.
